soba-mania

This is the cold soba lunch set Hiro had in Kanasago on our visit last Sunday. I had 100% soba because I am a bit of a soba snob. ^_^ The middle is yamaimo (sticky grated mountain root) on rice.

The tempura here is amazing...very memorable. Years later and I can still remember the first time. It still entices me and manages me to take the 1-2 hour drive up just to eat soba and bathe in hot springs!

I prefer my soba cold because when it is served up hot, it looses the al dente texture. My friend had かも, wild duck soup soba - yum!
