How kind the post office is!!!
Though some people complain about post office service in Japan, I beg to differ. Except for the unusually high rates for overseas packages, I am more than satisfied with Japanese postal services. For one thing, they do not bash around packages - each parcel is handled with care. Back in the States my letters and packages often ended up in pieces!I sent a letter to my cousin Michelle in Gifu prefecture - it was mailed back to me with a message attached, stating it needed an extra 40 yen for postage due to the unusual envelope size. They did not even cancel the stamp like they do in America or Canada. I was so pleased with the post office people. They may be disgruntled back home, but here I receive service above and beyond.
