on the way back...

Before we took off, around 6am my grandma prepared a breakfast feast for us, a meal which included the usual departure noodles. In Chinese practice, whenever someone departs for a journey, especially one that involves flight, they must eat noodles. Noodles signify longevity in Chinese (and even Japanese, i.e. toshi-koshi soba) culture. I like to think that, because of this, we had a safe journey home. (pictured is more airplane food...plus champagne!)
Over the past few years I have become more and more frightened of flying, so much so that slight turbulence triggers my heart to beat at a very fast rate. A slight bump or rough patch of clouds makes me grip onto Hirotsugu for dear life. Since when did I become such a wimp...hmm, I wonder. I hope this aviophobia, fear of flying, goes away someday.
