fresh, fresh, verrrrry fresh!
Because we could not eat or drink from Wednesday night until Thursday around 1pm, Thursday night we made up for it by going to the seaside to indulge. Forget the health report, we went all out! Hee hee. We even ate plenty of squid, something people concerned about cholesterol should avoid at all costs! Oops...well, you only live once, right?Mom's friend, Terri brought us to the coast, near but farther than TamShui...we went to a fish shop and chose the seafood we were about to eat, seafood which was very much alive and kicking in water. I was very excited by it and squealed a lot! The fisherwoman even let me pick up a squid - the coolest thing, when picked up from the water turned from brown to perfectly translucent, clear as crystal! OoooooooOOooooOOoooOOooo. Very fun but kind of slimy and grotesque all the the same time. Then I picked up another squid-like specimen, very interesting indeed.
All the seafood was cooked up. Fresh うに, sea urchin was okay but we decided that Taiwan's warmwater sea urchin was far inferior compared to delectable coldwater sea urchin harvested around Japan. The squid and yellowtail sashimi was fresh...yummy. Crab, also very tasty. A seafood feast to die for - if you go to Taiwan, don't miss out on this! Before this trip, even my mom, a native to Taiwan, did not know about this place. :)
