washi...Japanese paper
Even when I lived in Toronto, before I had even an ounce of desire to come to Japan, I loved to go to the Japanese paper store to shop for 和紙, washi, or Japanese paper. This particular kind of 和紙 is as thin as tissue paper and looks beautifully when layered on printed paper. We had hoped to use this for our wedding invitations, but...they were way beyond our budget! 3 dollars for just one sheet, eeks!
If you are planning to make an some birthday or other card, you can use this beautiful paper one day! Some folks even use it as decorative wrapping paper...elegant, simple, artistic.
