I say BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!!!

Ha ha...recently the cherry blossom blooming forecasters appeared on national television in order to apologize for their inaccurate bloom forecast. It was funny to see how solemn and sincerely repentant for their off-mark prediction. But Mother Nature is so unpredictable, how on Earth could they predict this sudden wave of chilly air/high winds early this month?! They are not God, after all.

In Japan where cherry blossom parties often take place, it is essential for many to know when is the perfect timing to hold such an open-air picnic party. If you ask me, it is sure nice to see cherry blossoms but hey, if they aren't out, it's a great excuse to party and for some to get very publicly drunk!

I wonder if Japanese people know how lucky they are. There are ordinances prohibiting public drinking, especially in parks and open spaces like university campuses, etc... Being inebriated in public is also nothing of great consequence here, unlike back in Canada.

One thing is for sure: cherry blossom season is not enjoyable for all...those with allergies do not look forward to such hanami (cherry blossom viewing) events. Poor them...and soon to be me!
