What's with it?

Interesting things my husband and I have discussed these days. Suicide. In the West, children go nuts at schools and (kill) off their classmates and teachers, while sometimes topping off the bloody massacre with suicide. To them, it's their classmates and administrators' fault. In Japan, children kill themselves, thinking it is their own fault. Hmm...curious.

Another interesting thing. In the West, children who do not get along with their parents have the tendency to run away. In Japan, children who get into spats with their parents commit matricide and patricide. These days it is hardly rare to see another such incident reported in the daily news. Umm, can we say, "biting the hand that feeds you...?" Is this just my slanted perspective or is it the same back home...hmm, I wonder if this is part of what some call the 'moral breakdown' of Japan. Though one could argue such a 'moral breakdown' is prevalent in areas throughout the world.
