Shark's fin, fine fin it is...

I feel terrible about eating precious shark's fin, because of it sharks all around the world are needlessly being harpooned and fished for only their fins...their carcasses tossed into the ocean afterwards. What a waste! Though one of my students tells me some companies use it for fishcake filler. Once I saw dolphin being sold as sashimi at Hitachinaka fish market.

Anyway last Sunday we had shark's fin in Tokyo Station in an area called Kitchen Street. It has tons of establishments for tasty food. Can you guess how much a bowl of whole shark's fin w/noodles cost? 2800yen, or around 25 dollars! We had the thinly sliced shark's fin bowls, a comparable bargain at 1400yen.

After that we went to the washroom...in order to do that, we received a gold token. To enter the washroom we inserted the gold coin, activating the door. How odd! The washroom stated it was for VIP customers only. For non-patrons, they have to pay the attendant 100yen (approx 1USD) to enter. The great aspect is that the washrooms are spic 'n spac clean!
