more brilliant frozen waterfalls...oooh, breath-taking!

TAKAYAMA, Gifu -- A spectacular frozen waterfall is being lit up at night during a local tourism promotion festival.

The Hirayu waterfall is located 1,450 meters above sea level at Mount Norikura, which is part of the Japan Alps in central Japan. The 64-meter-high waterfall in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, freezes over in winter.

Located close to the Okuhida hot spring area, the waterfall is lit up from 6 to 9 p.m. until Feb. 25. (Mainichi)

I would love to go see this in person though I think I will take a pass on it. A bit far away and just too darn cold...brrr. Though I must say, today is turning out to be sunny and gorgeous, will it be another glorious 18-degree day today?
