DOLLARS and SENSE...ha ha
Right now the dollar is wavering around 117-119yen, not bad at all and almost the same as this time last year when it was more like 120-122yen! This proved great for all our guests with US dollars from America. They could go nuts and spend away to their heart's delights.Though it must be noted (as informed by a guest from Chicago) that IF you should choose to exchange in the States you will get 92 yen to the dollar. CRAZY considering local banks in Japan give you 118yen to the dollar!!!
I find it strange that traveller's checks always fetch a better exchange rate than USD cash. Either way, it sure is safer to have traveller's checks over cash. ^_^ One guest had a problem with his credit card. Despite his call to the credit card company informing them of the overseas trip, they put a STOP on his card. What a pain it was to get them to reactivate it.
Note to Japanese travelers: Keep a VISA (or two) and a Mastercard, just in case! JCB card only works in Japan and Hawaii. Don't count on it much elsewhere or else you will be in trouble!
