functional chocolate???
Amino acids are also already popular in Asia and many people can actually name the particular benefits of specific amino acids now commonly seen in food and drink products.A recent example in Japan is GABA chocolate, which was launched by Ezaki Glico, a 'relaxation-inducing' chocolate for busy people working in stressful environments. My student Atsuko pointed it out to me...I'll have to give it a try one day. I'll report back on it.
Another such example of functional choco...today my new student, Naoko, gave me some 72% cacao Meiji chocolate, with a chock full of polyphenols...you know, the stuff in red wine. This is quite bitter and similar to the Swiss-chocolate maker, Lindt's 70% bitter chocolates. (but much cheaper, of course) Mmm, chocolately tasty.
